As part of The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (“CMS”) Interoperability and Patient Access Rule, CareFirst is implementing Patient Access API(s). This permits third-party applications to retrieve member's data with the consent from the member or the member’s personal representative. The FHIR Patient Access API product enables member to securely retrieve their health data with third party application of their choice. This API product conforms to the HL7 FHIR(R4) standard.
